FLEETWOOD SAYS CHRISTINE MCVIE WILL SPEND TIME WITH BAND

Though he can’t make any promises about an on-stage reunion with her former bandmates, Fleetwood Mac drummer Mick Fleetwood has convinced the notoriously afraid of flying Christine McVie to spend three weeks with him in Hawaii. He told UK’s The Sun, “I’m getting goosebumps just thinking about it. John’s [McVie] going to come over…to see her and then she’s going to L.A. to see Stevie [Nicks], who misses her terribly and is really excited to see her. But it’ll be her decision. But we’d make her very welcome if she wanted to creep up on that stage again.”

YES WON’T SAY NO TO REUNION WITH ANDERSON

In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Yes bassist Chris Squire was asked the same old question: what is the possibility of welcoming vocalist Jon Anderson back to the lineup? Apparently, Squire said what he always says every time he’s asked that question: “I always say in interviews that I’ve never closed the idea on working with Jon again. It would probably have to be some sort of specialty kind of set, a limited engagement kind of thing. So, there’s always an open door…if we want to look at doing something with Jon. But, of course, it all depends on how he feels about it.”

NEXT SCHON SOLO SET TO FEATURE VOCALS

Longtime Journey guitarist Neal Schon could be the newest hardest working man in rock. The veteran six-stringer released his last solo album The Calling last fall, he’s currently on tour with Journey, and he says he has his next solo set ready to be released “whenever I decide to put it out.” In a recent interview, Schon said his next solo offering will be “more of a power trio album” featuring Journey drummer Deen Castronovo and Thin Lizzy member Marco Mendoza on bass, all of whom take turns singing lead vocals. The album will also contain an instrumental dedicated to his former Santana bandmate Carlos Santana.

HART SHOWS HEART; HELPS HURRICANE SANDY VICTIMS

Former Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart found a way to do his part for victims of Hurricane Sandy by recording a song called “Jersey Shore,” all proceeds from which will be donated to Clean Ocean Action. As Hart explains, he was watching coverage of the devastation “and it really touched me, the loss for all these people… It was just a tragedy. He adds that he wrote “Jersey Shore” because it’s “what musicians do, when they cry, when they laugh, when they see anything, they try to reflect on what’s going on in life, they write a song.”
