STEWART TAKES TIME TO DEBUT NEW ALBUM COVER, TRACKLIST

The time is almost right for the release of the first all-new rock record from Rod Stewart in almost two decades. Time will be available on May 7 and according to a video trailer for the record will feature a dozen tunes (11 written and produced by Stewart), including “Can’t Stop Me Now,” “She Makes Me Happy,” “Sexual Religion,” “It’s Over,” “Brighton Beach,” “Finest Woman,” and “Beautiful Morning.” The record’s first single, “She Makes Me Happy,” is available now, and “Finest Woman” will premiere on April 8.

 

HEAVY METAL HERO PRAISES POP STAR, SUGGESTS DUET

He’s considered the godfather of heavy metal, but Ozzy Osbourne has expressed a sincere interest in one day singing with multimillion-selling, multiple Grammy-winning pop star Adele. In a recent interview with Australia’s Rip It Up,” the Prince of Darkness said that singing with Adele would guarantee he could “die a happy man.” Ozzy added, “I think she’s f***ing great. She’s not f***ing botox-faced. She’s a normal, healthy girl who speaks in her native accent.”

COMMERCIALS DIRECTOR TAPPED TO HELM JOHN BIOPIC

The search for a director to oversee the upcoming Elton John biopic, Rocketman, has ended with a rather surprise choice. Michael Gracey, who certainly does not have a household name, is best “known” for his work on scores of television commercials, but has been chosen to be in charge of the John biopic, according to Deadline Hollywood. The actor who will portray John has yet to be named.

MOODY BLUES READY COLOSSAL CAREER COMPILATION BOX SET

Fans of the Moody Blues will need to start eating their Wheaties in order to just pick up the enormous career-spanning box set the band plans to release on June 3. Timeless Flight: The Voyage Continues will include a staggering 11 CDs, an astonishing six DVDs and a prodigious 120-page booklet, plus a healthy amount of memorabilia including a replica concert poster.

SATRIANI SETS MAY 7 RELEASE DATE FOR FOURTEENTH STUDIO ALBUM

Guitar master Joe Satriani says a “very prolific and cathartic” period at the end of 2012 resulted in several of the songs found on his upcoming album, Unstoppable Momentum, scheduled for a May 7 release. Satriani says the eleven songs selected for the album are all “heading in different directions and touching on a variety of musical influences.”

RECORD STORE DAY DVD GIVES VINYL JUNKIES A FIX

Vinyl album enthusiasts’ heads will be spinning with joy of knowing the official film of Record Store Day 2013 is coming to DVD. Based on the book of the same title, Last Shop Standing, available on April 30, features appearance by and interviews with musicians including Billy Bragg, Paul Weller and Johnny Marr, and “celebrates and promotes our great independent record stores.”
