DEF LEPPARD’S CAMPBELL SAYS PLAYING WITH CANCER “LIKE THERAPY”

Longtime Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell says being able to perform onstage during chemotherapy sessions to battle Hodgkin’s lymphoma “was good therapy for me.” The musician says he received his diagnosis on “the first day of rehearsal” earlier this year for the band’s residency in Las Vegas, and admits, “(It) was just a little bit weird for me being in Vegas and doing these shows…and playing rock ‘n’ roll and knowing that I’ve got cancer…but it’s good mentally to keep moving forward…”

JETT SOUNDS OFF ON ILLS OF SOCIAL MEDIA

The new Joan Jett album, Unvarnished, arrived this week, and in a new interview with Rolling Stone, she was asked to share her thoughts on the surge of social media since her days in the Runaways. Jett said, “I just think that there is so much info out there, that people are now used to grabbing as much info on the person that they are looking up to. The hunt-happy right wing rocker said in a recent interview, “Your cravings for real, American, rhythm and blues, driven rock ‘n’ roll will be very, very happy when you hear my new songs. I have some killer riffs and licks and powerhouses, and we love the music. We can’t wait to record.” Nugent says he hopes to start recording in February or March. Meantime, his live CD/DVD, Ultralive Ballisticrock, arrives October 22.
