U2 MANAGER CONFIRMS HE’LL STEP ASIDE
It appears U2 will walk on with or without their longtime manager Paul McGuinness, who told the New York Times he will “take a less hands-on roll” once concert promotion giant Live Nation closes on its $30 million deal to acquire the band’s Principle Management company as well as Madonna’s management firm Maverick, run by her manager Guy Oseary. McGuinness, who’s handled U2’s affairs for over 35 years, said, “It could be seen as slightly poor etiquette for a manager to consider retiring before his artist has split, quit or died, but U2 have never subscribed to the rock ‘n’ roll code of conduct.” McGuinness said Oseary will “take over the day-to-day running of our business.”
