CHEAP TRICK PLOTS LATE 2013, EARLY 2014 NORTH AMERICAN TREK

Perennial road warriors Cheap Trick will close 2013 with a run of seven tour dates and will welcome 2014 with a stretch of 14 additional performances. The final 2013 dates begin this Tuesday in Charleston, SC and end on the 29th in Seneca, NY. After taking January off the band will hit the road once again, starting with a gig in St. Charles, IL on February 7 and will wrap the early 2014 run with a March 15 show in Montreal.

BONO SHEDS LIGHT ON FUTURE OF SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK

Despite the show’s impending final curtain call on Broadway scheduled for January 4, U2 singer Bono sees a bright future for Spider-Man: Turn Off the Light. The musical was plagued with delays, pre-production mishaps and lawsuits but Bono remains bullish, saying, “When you think of the difficult birth we had with Turn Off the Light, it’s worked out so well. Three hugely successful years, and then it’s off to Germany, it’s off to Las Vegas. It was a lot more expensive than it should have been, but in the long term it will…do very, very well.”

YOUNG OFFERS UP PRE-ORDER FOR LIVE AT THE CELLAR DOOR

Pre-orders are now available for the upcoming Neil Young Archives Performance Series release Live at the Cellar Door, which will be available December 10. Fans who place their orders now will automatically receive an instant download of the album track “Old Man.” Tracks on Live at the Cellar Door were collected from Young’s six-show run at the Cellar Door in Washington, DC between November 30 and December 2, 1970.

JOEL TEASES “HISTORIC ANNOUNCEMENT” DUE TUESDAY

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Billy Joel, who recently announced four Madison Square Garden shows in 2014, said this week he’ll hold a press conference at the venue this Tuesday to make an “exclusive and historic announcement” that will be broadcast live on Fuse, the MSG Network and BillyJoel.com. No indication was given as to the subject of the announcement but speculation surrounds the possibility of performing more concerts in his hometown of New York. Joel’s four 2014 shows at the historic venue are scheduled for January 27, February 3, March 21 and April 18.

SCHON TO SHOW WEDDING AS PAY-PER-VIEW TELEVISION EVENT

Longtime Journey guitarist Neal Schon is banking on the band’s loyal fans and curiosity seekers to cough up $14.99 to watch him and his fiancé, former reality star Michaele Salahi, get married on television. The couple will televise their December 15 nuptials on a pay-per-view event titled Neal & Michaele: The Winter Wonderland Wedding and Music Event which will take place at San Francisco’s Palace of Fine Arts.

JON BON JOVI SPENDS TIME WITH PRINCE WILLIAM AT GLAMOROUS GALA

New Jersey rocker Jon Bon Jovi rubbed elbows with British royalty Tuesday when he had an opportunity to chat with Prince William at the Winter Whites Gala at Kensington Palace. The event was organized by Centerpoint, a charity the heir to the throne supports that works to “build a brighter future for homeless young people.” The Bon Jovi frontman was also photographed speaking with country and pop queen Taylor Swift was also in attendance. Together the two performed "Livin' On a Prayer."

METALLICA INKS 3 2014 GERMAN GIGS, GETS FANS INVOLVED IN SET LIST

German fans of Metallica will feel large and in charge when the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band touches down in three German cities for shows next June. The group will perform June 4 in Hamburg, a headlining show at the Rock am Ring festival June 5-8 in Nurburgring and another at the Rock im Park festival June 6-9 in Nuremberg. Fans who purchase their tickets online will be able to participate in the band’s first “Metallica by Request” in which fans will pick the set list for each show. The band said in a press release that they will reserve one spot on the set list to perform a brand new song. Additional European dates are scheduled to be announced next week at metallica.com.
