PINK FLOYD-BASED RADIO PLAY DARKSIDE OUT NOW ON CD

A radio play written by Academy Award winner Tom Stoppard for BBC Radio 2 featuring the music of Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon is now available as a deluxe CD package. Darkside was originally broadcast on BBC Radio 2 on August 26 of this year to mark the 40th anniversary of the release of the iconic album. The new package resembles a hardback book and holds the full 54-minute play on CD as well as 56-page bound insert of the play’s script.

HENDRIX HEADED TO BAND FUSE: ROCK LEGENDS VIDEO GAME

The music of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame guitarist Jimi Hendrix will be found on the Band Fuse: Rock Legends video game, starting in January. In all, 15 Hendrix tracks will be available as downloadable content in the Band Fuse: Rock Legends Music Store. Later in 2014, Hendrix will be integrated into the game as a rock legend. Experience Hendrix LLC President/CEO Janie Hendrix said, “Jimi was never afraid to go beyond the limitations of traditional guitar teachings, and when fans jump into Band Fuse they will be amazed at how cool it is to learn to play guitar like Hendrix.”

FRAMPTON STILL HOLDS OUT HOPE OF FINDING STOLEN LUGGAGE

Guitarist Peter Frampton is still hoping Denver police will be able to show him the way back to his luggage which was stolen in July by a man who’s suspected of taking off with several other bags from Denver International Airport. Acording to the Denver Post, John Allen Papelbon to police he walked away with seven bags from the busy airport this year, but when detectives arrived at his home outside Denver all they found was a bag tag belonging to Frampton. Papelbon faces theft and burglary charges and is due back in court on December 10.

MIKE AND THE MECHANICS MARK MILESTONE FOR LIVING YEARS

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the release of their landmark album Living Years and its powerful and popular single “The Living Years,” Mike and the Mechanics have announced the release of two releases on January 20. The Living Years 25th Anniversary Edition will include the original album plus 12 live recordings and a new version of “The Living Years” sung by current singer Andrew Roachford. Meanwhile, the 2-CD set The Singles: 1985-2014 includes hits like the original “The Living Years” featuring Paul Carrack, “All I Need is a Miracle” and “Over My Shoulder,” plus a new song, “When My Feet Don’t Touch the Ground” and the previously unreleased “One By One” featuring Carrack and Paul Young on vocals.

OWNER OF HAGAR’S ROSEVILLE, CA RESTAURANT FOUND DEAD

The bizarre beginning of the story of the owner of Sammy Hagar’s Rockin’ Island Bar & Grill in Roseville, CA ended in tragedy last week when divers found the Red Rocker’s business partner Stephen Pease dead in the Pacific Ocean near Gualala, CA, well north of San Francisco. Hagar issued the following statement: “I’m utterly saddened by the news of the passing of Stephen Pease. My family and I send our prayers and deepest condolences to his family and friends throughout the upcoming holidays and beyond.” The Sacramento Bee reports Pease had been reported missing on Halloween, prompting the sudden closure of the popular eatery.
