JOURNEY’S “DON’T STOP BELIEVIN’” TAPPED AS BEST DRIVING SONG

The fine folks at Insurance.com recently conducted a survey to determine the best driving song and respondents picked the Journey classic “Don’t Stop Believin’.” USA Today reports 2,000 licensed drivers 18 and older weighed in and the majority selected the 1981 anthem as the best car song ever. The top 10 list also includes Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody,” AC/DC’s “You Shook Me All Night Long,” Journey’s “Any Way You Want It” and Tom Cochrane’s “Life is a Highway.”

PERRY PICKED FOR COTTONWOOD FILM ROLE

Producers of the upcoming feature film Cottonwood announced on Monday that Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry has been selected to play the role of Joe Walker in the murder-mystery. Set in West Texas during the depression and dustbowl era, Cottonwood tells the story of county sheriff Rube Whitlock, who becomes entangled in a mystery tied to the murder of a local racist. Perry said in a statement: “I am extremely proud and excited to be a part of this very distinguished, heartfelt film and to work with the outstanding cast and production team.”

BOWIE’S “REBEL REBEL” LIMITED EDITION PICTURE DISC DUE MARCH 11

A 40th anniversary 7” picture disc of the David Bowie smash single “Rebel Rebel” is set to be released on March 11. The must-have collector’s item is the seventh in a series of 40th anniversary 7” picture discs which also includes “Starman,” “John I’m Only Dancing,” “The Jean Genie,” “Drive In Saturday,” “Life On Mars” and “Sorrow.” The artwork for the “Rebel Rebel” picture disc features two photos from a session that took place in Amsterdam at the television show Top Pop in February 1974.

MAY SAYS MANY TESTS HAVE RESULTED IN “MAINLY” GOOD HEALTH NEWS

After undergoing a battery of medical examinations, Queen guitarist Brian May gave fans an update on his health, saying for the most part things look good. May, who was encouraged to undergo a series of tests to rule out the possibility of cancer, wrote on his website: “Basically all the tests I’ve had have come back with good reports, and so most of the ills that were possibilities a couple of weeks ago are now ruled out.”

KISS SUITS UP FOR “BATTLE” IN CLIP PROMOTING CLOTHING LINE

Noted fashion designer John Varvatos invited 200 fans to his New York City boutique, located at the former site of the venerable rock club CBGB’s, and promised the attendees that they would be treated to a show by a surprise guest. Fans were ecstatic when the four members of Kiss came onstage in full makeup but wearing fashionable suits from Varvatos’ spring/summer line. A YouTube video shows the band getting ready for their surprise set which included killer performances of “Rock and Roll All Nite” and “C’mon and Love Me.”
