ALLMAN REFUTES RUMORS BROTHERS BREAKING UP IN 2015
Following the January announcement that longtime Allman Brothers Band guitarists Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks were leaving the group later this year, numerous reports surfaced that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame unit would be calling it quits. But in a recent interview, band namesake Gregg Allman gave fans great news when he said, “As for the rumor of the Brothers breaking up after 45 years, in other words, after this year. That is a rumor. We are not breaking up. We are replacing Derek Trucks.”
STANLEY STILL STICKING IT TO ROCK HALL STAFFERS
Despite now being an official full-fledged member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Kiss singer/guitarist Paul Stanley is not finished firing off insults at the very officials who finally voted him in. On Sunday, Stanley took to Twitter to call out Hall of Fame co-founder Jann Wenner and his cohorts, alleging the band members were treated like “uninvited guests” at last Thursday’s induction ceremony. Stanley tweeted: “Our treatment at the RRHOF confirmed my worst suspicions. Wenner and the rest are spineless weasels.” Stanley was pissed off at the fact that the band allegedly was not provided with unspecified passes or a schedule for the evening’s festivities.
KISS PERFORMS FOR NEW KING OF THE NIGHT TIME TV WORLD
As expected, Kiss kept its promise and did not perform at last Thursday’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, but the following night the four current members lit up The Tonight Show with new host Jimmy Fallon. The band, in full makeup and costume, brought a plethora of pyrotechnics and performed “King of the Night Time World.” Kiss carried on with more web-exclusive performances of “Black Diamond,” “Deuce,” and an incendiary medley of “Hotter Than Hell” and “Firehouse.”
SIXX SLAMS BACH FOR STILL CALLING HIMSELF FORMER SKID ROW SINGER
Chances are the newly married Nikki Sixx did not invite Sebastian Bach to his third wedding. The longtime Motley Crue bassist recently took a huge swipe at the former Skid Row singer for still clinging to his association with the band he left back in 1999. Sixx said, “A new celebrity singing competition is coming to TV, like we haven’t had enough. It’s called Sing Your F**king Face Off. It’s actually just called Sing Your Face Off. Five celebrites, including former Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach. When is he gonna let go of the ‘former Skid Row?’ I mean, at this point, dude, you’ve been out of Skid Row longer than Skid Row was even alive. Like, let it go!”
SLASH SURPRISES MOTORHEAD FANS, JAMS ON “ACE OF SPADES”
Friday night’s Motorhead show at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles was bolstered by a surprise appearance by Slash, who jumped onstage to lend his six-string prowess to the Motorhead standard “Ace of Spades.” The unannounced collaboration came just two days after Slash joined heroes Aerosmith onstage at the world famous Whisky a Go Go for a go at “Train Kept a Rollin” and “Mama Kin.”
SMITH SICKENED BY NEWS CIA USED RHCP SONGS FOR TORTURE
Recently released reports claim the CIA used Red Hot Chili Peppers music during so-called enhanced interrogation sessions with detainees at Guantanamo Bay. When informed that U.S. officials confirmed the techniques were used by the Bush administration following 9/11, RHCP drummer Chad Smith told TMZ, “Our music is positive. It’s supposed to make people feel good, so that’s very upsetting to me. I don’t like that at all.” He went on to say, “You shouldn’t be doing any of that s**t. It’s horrible. I just ate; I don’t want to, like, throw up.”
