SIR PAUL TO SHUT DOWN HOLLYWOOD BLVD. FOR LATE-NIGHT SHOT
ABC late-night host Jimmy Kimmel has bagged the biggest name in rock to kick off the new season of Jimmy Kimmel Live. On Monday, Kimmel and company will shut down Hollywood Blvd. when Paul McCartney performs a free concert during his first appearance on the show. The former Beatle will sit for a chat before his performance which will likely include the title track to his upcoming album, New (due October 15), as well as a selection of Fab Four favorites. Meanwhile, McCartney has served up a new lyric/behind-the-scenes video for the new single “New.”

RUSH READIES CLOCKWORK ANGELS TOUR CD, DVD
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame progressive rock trio Rush has announced the November 19 release of the live CD and DVD, Rush: Clockwork Angels Tour. The three hours of sound and video was culled from the band’s show last November at the American Airlines Arena in Dallas. The DVD contains a 25-minute tour documentary, fresh interviews with all three band members, a soundcheck performance of “Limelight” and more.

MCCARTNEY SHARES NEW 12-SONG TRACKLIST
Sir Paul McCartney has given fans a glimpse of the 12 songs populating his next album, New, due October 15. In addition to the title track, the former Beatles’ first set of all-new material in six years includes “Save Us,” “Alligator,” “On My Way to Work,” “Queenie Eye,” “Early Days,” “Appreciate,” “Everybody Out There,” “Hosanna,” “I Can Bet,” “Looking at Her” and “Road.” Hinting at the variety of songs on the new set, McCartney said, “It’s funny, when I play people the album they’re surprised it’s me. A lot of the tracks are quite varied and not necessarily in a style you’d recognize as mine.”

SANTANA, JOEL AMONG 2013 KENNEDY CENTER HONOREES
Fellow Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members Carlos Santana and Billy Joel along with jazz superstar Herbie Hancock have been named to receive 2013 Kennedy Center Honors. The three musical masters will be welcomed by President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama at the 36th annual ceremony, scheduled to take place in Washington, DC on December 7.

EAGLES BOX UP STUDIO ALBUM FOR OCTOBER RELEASE
Every Asylum Records studio albums the Eagles issued between 1972 and 1979 will soon be housed in one amazing limited edition(5,000 copies) box set, available October 29. The aptly titled six LP collection, The Studio Albums 1972-1979, will feature 180-gram editions of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group’s self-titled debut, Desperado, On the Border, One of These Nights, Hotel California and The Long Run. The band’s current History of the Eagles tour continues tonight in Calgary, Canada and the long run wraps with a three-night stand at the newly refurbished Forum in Los Angeles January 15, 17 and 18.

LOST LENNON INTERVIEW SHEDS LIGHT ON DARKNESS AROUND BEATLES A John Lennon interview conducted by Village Voice columnist Howard Smith around the time of the Let It Be sessions has recently been discovered, and it, the late Beatle describes the rancor that surrounded the band during its last days. At one point, Lennon tells Smith, “We were going through hell… We never really finished it. We really didn’t want to do it.” Speaking in broader terms about the band’s studio sessions, Lennon said, “It’s torture every time we produce anything. We suffer like hell anytime we make anything. We’ve got each other to contend with. Imagine working with the Beatles – it’s tough. There’s just tension. It’s tense every time the red light goes on.”

SPRINGSTEEN, WATERS ENLIST FOR “STAND UP FOR HEROES” BENEFIT Two of the biggest names and most important figures in rock have signed on to perform for troops at the “Stand Up For Heroes” benefit concert, scheduled to take place November 6 at the Theater at Madison Square Garden. Organizers confirmed Monday that Bruce Springsteen and former Pink Floyd singer/bassist Roger Waters will both make return visits to the event which they played at last year. CSN&Y TO HEADLINE 27TH BRIDGE SCHOOL BENEFIT CONCERT The lineup for the 27th edition of the annual Bridge School Benefit Concert curated by Neil Young was announced via video on Friday, and the biggest news coming out of the announcement was that Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young will reunite to headline the event. Additional acts include Heart, Elvis Costello, his wife, Diana Krall, Queens of the Stone Age, My Morning Jacket, Jenny Lewis, fun. and the Killers (Saturday only). The shows will take place October 26 and 27 at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA, with tickets going on sale this Friday.

CLAPTON’S UNPLUGGED DUE AS DELUXE EDITION OCTOBER 15
The fine folks at Reprise Records will reprise Eric Clapton’s classic Unplugged album as a new two-CD/DVD expanded edition appropriately titled Unplugged: Expanded and Remastered, available October 15. Highlights in the forthcoming collection include six unreleased outtakes, and the DVD boasts a newly restored version of the original concert, as well as over an hour of previously unreleased footage from the rehearsals leading up to the historic show.

ROLLING STONES TO DELIVER HYDE PARK GIGS DVD ON NOVEMBER 11
The Rolling Stones have set a November 11 release date for the DVD and Blu-ray discs of their two concerts at London’s Hyde Park which went down on July 6 and 13. The aptly titled The Rolling Stones Sweet Summer Sun – Hyde Park Live includes a top shelf list of the band’s biggest hits, including “Start Me Up,” “Street Fighting Man,” “Midnight Rambler,” “Sympathy for the Devil,” “Brown Sugar” and “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.” The collection will also be available as a two-CD/DVD package, a three-LP/DVD box and a Deluxe Edition featuring DVD, Blu-ray, two CDs and a 60-page book.
