REMASTERED, EXPANDED FIRST 3 LED ZEPPELIN ALBUMS DUE JUNE 3

The first batch of a whole lotta Led Zeppelin reissues will arrive June 3, starting with remastered and expanded editions of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band’s first three studio albums, Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin II and Led Zeppelin III. Personally remastered by Jimmy Page, each of the reissued albums will come with a bonus disc of previously unreleased companion audio, and will be available in multiple CD, vinyl and digital formats, in addition to a limited edition super deluxe box set. Eventually, all nine of the group’s studio albums will be reissued in chronological order. In more Led Zep related news, Page will receive an Honorary Doctorate degree from the Berklee College of Music at a ceremony on May 10 at Boston University.

ROLLING STONES STACK UP TWO EUROPEAN FESTIVAL DATES

Having just wrapped a wildly successful run of shows in Japan and China, the Rolling Stones will start a seven-show swing through Australia and New Zealand this Wednesday, March 19. On Wednesday, the group confirmed two European festival performances; a set at the Pinkpop Festival in Holland on June 7 and a gig at the TW Classic Festival in Belgium on June 28. Following the announcement, Mick Jagger said, “I love festivals in the summertime and can’t wait for the tour to get to Europe.”

HYNDE SERVES UP HINT OF HOW NEXT ALBUM CAME ABOUT

Longtime Pretenders principal Chrissie Hynde is eyeing her next solo studio album and has offered fans a glimpse into how the future record got off the ground by setting up a new (NOTE CONTENT) website on which she tells a brief backstory. As she explains, she met collaborator Bjorn Yttling of the Swedish indie pop band Peter Bjorn and John in a coffee bar in Cleveland “and we sort of met and greed to try to do something.” In an earlier interview with UK’s Q magazine, Hynde said tennis ace “John McEnroe is playing guitar on one song and Neil Young is playing on it too.”

U2 SPOKESPERSON DENIES ALBUM DELAY

Numerous news outlets reported U2 had decided to delay the release of their next record until 2015 in order to schedule more studio time, however a band spokesperson says that isn’t so. A representative for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band told UK’s The Guardian, “U2’s album is planned for this year, it is still on track and touring plans haven’t been confirmed yet.” U2’s rep reiterated the group’s new record should be ready by this summer.
