Spin asked Ferrell if he and Smith had any future plans together and he responded, "I mean, we did talk about another drum-off. With a third person that looks eerily similar to Chad and I. A third drummer out there." Chad Smith added, "I think it's - did we talk about Lars?" and Ferrell responded, We talked about Lars [Ulrich], from Metallica. So, I don't know." Spin then asked him if they have heard anything back from Lars and Ferrell responded, "Your article will be the first mentioning of it." Chad added, "This is a scoop!" and Ferrell continued, "Lars gets pissed because he gets mistaken for both me and Chad Smith. He can settle that score now, too." Chad Smith then sealed the public challenge by saying, "There it is. The gauntlet is down."
